Q: What types of mental health issues do you treat?
A: I provide treatment for a broad range of mental health concerns including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, and PTSD. Additionally, I offer support for relationship issues such as marital and couples therapy, life transitions, management of chronic medical conditions, and women’s health issues, tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs.  

 

Q: How can I book an appointment?  
A: Appointments can be scheduled by calling or texting at 256-469-8976, booking directly through my website, or by emailing me at myjcs.bemindful.com. I aim to make the scheduling process as convenient as possible for clients.  

 

Q: What are your office hours? 
A: Mondays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

     Tuesdays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (virtual appointments only)

     Wednesdays 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

     Thursdays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

      Fridays 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM  (virtual appointments only)

      Saturdays 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (twice/monthly)  

      CLOSED EVERY SUNDAY

Q: Do you accept insurance, and which providers do you work with?
A: I accept several major insurance plans, including BCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Optum. Please verify your coverage directly with your insurance provider to confirm benefits for mental health services.  

 

Q:What should I expect during my first session?
A: Sessions typically last up to 60 minutes. During your initial appointment, I conduct a thorough assessment to understand your concerns, goals, and background. The total number of sessions needed varies based on individual circumstances, and I will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

 

Q: How long are sessions, and how many will I need?  
A: Each session lasts approximately one hour. The duration of treatment depends on your specific needs and goals, which we will discuss during your initial consultation.  

 

Q: Is confidentiality maintained?  
A: Absolutely. Maintaining client confidentiality is a legal and ethical obligation. Your privacy and trust are fundamental to the therapeutic process.  

 

Q: What are your fees, and do you offer sliding scale options?
A: Please review the "Start Your Journey" section of my website for detailed information regarding fees and services. Currently, I do not offer sliding scale options, as my fees are structured based on the quality of care and professional standards. Payment is always due at the time of service. 

Q: How do I prepare for my first visit?
A: Prior to your appointment, please complete all required paperwork sent via email. Being prepared with any relevant history, questions, or concerns will help facilitate a productive first session.  

 

Q: What is your cancellation policy?  
A: To avoid late cancellation fees, please provide at least 24 hours' notice via phone or text if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee, which will be explained during your intake.  

 

Q: Do you offer virtual sessions?  
A: Yes, virtual sessions are available and can be scheduled to fit your schedule and comfort. Telehealth provides a secure, convenient way to access therapy from your preferred location.  

 

Q: How do I know if counseling is right for me? 
A: If you’re experiencing emotional distress, relationship challenges, or significant life transitions affecting your well-being, counseling can offer support and guidance. I encourage you to reach out for an initial consultation to discuss your concerns and determine if therapy is the right next step.
